ELD

ELD is the abbreviation of the Environmental Liability Directive that is a legal instrument of the EU covering consequences of significant damage done to the environment. The ELD is an innovative and ambitious legal instrument, however, its implementation and experience with its practical application is scarcer.

All stakeholders including the EU, the business community, the competent authorities and the civil society are supposed to contribute to the formation of a solid practice of implementation of the ELD. Therefore J&E produced case studies on ELD cases, compared different liability regimes, issued newsletters in the ELD topic and established an ELD mailing list for stakeholders.
