PRISKA LUEGER, new Excecutive Committee member of J&E: “Justice and Environment serves as a great opportunity to work with joint forces at international aspects of environmental law.”

Justice and Environment has a new Executive Committee member Priska Lueger from ÖKOBÜRO / J&E Austria. Soon after starting her law studies in Vienna, she decided to focus on environmental law. However, as she was always interested in other topics as well and needed to have a change of scenery once in a while, she also passed some semesters at the faculty for cultural and social anthropology as well as the Viennese University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU). After attending the University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, for one year, she returned to Vienna to finish her studies.

Working for the Austrian Federal Ministry for Economics in the field of mining, she soon realized that she wanted to switch from the public sector to other areas and applied for a job as environmental and sustainability consultant in a company called denkstatt. “I can say that since a former internship as well as some projects as a freelancer with ÖKOBÜRO, I always knew that the eNGO scene was the field where I finally wanted to end up. Therefore, I am very glad that I finally got the chance to work as environmental lawyer for ÖKOBÜRO and Justice & Environment. This gives me the chance to live my environmental values not only in private, but foster progress in this area also professionally.”

Akcnowledging that environmental protection can simply not be achieved on a national basis only, she is particularly interested in the international aspects of environmental law. Therefore she considers Justice & Environment as a great opportunity to cooperate with joint forces. In addition to being part of J&E Excecutive Committee, Priska also participates in the Climate & Energy Working Group as well as in Compliance projects.
