Ministers demand better nature law enforcement

EU environment ministers meeting called for “substantial improvements” in the implementation of the EU’s nature laws as they rubberstamped a new plan to step up enforcement.

The EU Environment Council backed the European Commission’s plan to address shortcomings in the implementation of the Birds and Habitats Directives, which represent the cornerstone of efforts to halt and reverse biodiversity loss.
