After 7 years of criminal investigation, indictment and court trial, the 2nd instance Regional Court of Győr ordered the 1st instance court to hear again the criminal case against the leaders of MAL Co., the company that produced alumina and whose highly alkaline waste red mud broke an earthen dam and spilled across kilometers, sweeping away roads, railways, houses and ultimately killing 10 people in Western Hungary in 2010.

The judge in its order made on Monday said there had been procedural mistakes and shortcomings in the hearing of witnesses at the lower level court with regard to the evaluation of expert opinions and also in the court's justification for its acquittal ruling.
