Justice & Environment, European network of environmental law organizations is proud to present the results of its 2008 survey regarding the transposition of the EU Landfill Directive in selected EU Member States.
Last year’s assessment of Justice and Environment on landfills was based on a questionnaire focusing on legal issues of proper transposition and data on existing landfills.
Research has revealed that legal systems of the countries assessed are mostly in line with the requirements of the respective EU legislation. However, it also uncovered that 2009 is a critical year for the waste management industry, since this year all landfills not meeting the requirements of the Landfill Directive shall be closed permanently.
